Many people would say that the most important thing to them when it comes to aging is maintaining their independence. Instability, pain and decreased mental awareness can all contribute to losing independence but they don’t have to. At Casa Companion Homecare Solutions, our goal is to give you the care that you need, while helping you to maintain your independence. That is why we have come up with this list of tips to help you stay independent:
- Eat Right- Eating right is the foundation for any healthy individual. By eating right, you can maintain a healthy weight, which will save your joints from added weight and pressure. If you can no longer cook for yourself, you can still eat well by consuming meals that are prepared by one of our home care providers.
- Exercise- The best way to stay moving is to get moving! As your body becomes more unstable, it can be difficult to get into a good exercise program, but even something as simple as walking down the block can go a long way. Do whatever it takes to keep moving.
- Stability- If you are unstable on your feet, talk to your doctor about how to keep your stability. Whether it be a walker, a cane or just a grabber to help you reach things on the floor, the more stable you are, the less likely you are to fall.
These are just a few of the many tips that our professionals can provide for you. To learn more, please stay tuned for our next blog.
